Choosing cup sizes is one of the first packaging decisions for any café or takeaway counter. Most menus can be covered by two or three sizes, and getting them right makes ordering, storage and service simpler.
A starting point for each size
- 8 oz – small coffees and flat whites.
- 12 oz – regular coffees and lattes.
- 16 oz – large drinks and longer coffees.
Use these sizes as a starting point rather than a rule. Check your usual recipes and serving level against a sample before committing to a full production run.
Sizes are nominal capacities
Cup sizes are usually described by nominal capacity. The usable capacity, rim diameter and overall dimensions are confirmed on the final product specification, so ask for the details that matter for your drinks.
Remember the lids
Lids are product-specific. When you choose a cup size, confirm the matching lid at the same time so the fit can be checked against the cup you have selected.
